The Issue

In Chandler, Arizona the Anderson Springs, community faces a serious and distressing issue with its lake and pond environments. As a resident, I have witnessed the heartbreaking sight of baby ducks getting stuck in drains alongside bloated, dead fish at the surface. This distressing situation highlights the urgent need for change. We, as residents, pay dues that fund restocking the lake and pond with fish during the year, yet these fish are met with a deadly fate, suffering from lack of food and oxygen or sickness from new water releases and microbial stress toxins.

The current habitat lacks the necessary conditions for fish and overall wildlife to thrive. The lack of aquatic plants and the absence of sufficient structures like boulders and grasses greatly contribute to this unsustainability. This is not just an environmental issue but also poses an ethical dilemma due to the cruel treatment of the fish, as they slowly suffocate and starve in an unsuitable habitat.

It is crucial that Anderson Springs First Service Residential HOA halts the restocking of fish immediately and collaborates with biologists and environmental experts to create a truly sustainable environment. This includes evaluating and planting necessary aquatic vegetation and adding structures to aid wildlife such as wading birds and turtles. Floating plant mats and grasses can enhancing the food supply and ensuring sufficient oxygen levels keeping the nutrients balanced. By doing so, we can ensure a healthy, balanced ecosystem where wildlife can thrive.

I'm calling on all fellow residents and supporters who share our concern for wildlife to join us in urging Anderson Springs First Service Residential to take immediate action. I’m demanding the board attend the lake management seminars they have ignored to better qualify them to make decisions. Together, we can create a sustainable and ethical environment for the wildlife we cherish.

Please sign this petition to demand a stop to current fish stocking practices until an improved environmental plan is implemented. Your support is crucial in making a positive change for the wildlife at Anderson Springs.
