With all the unresolved and unanswered objections and concerns, why has the Planning Permit been issued?
Who shall we hold responsible and accountable for the permanent outcomes to the neighbourhood and residents from the issuing of the DFP Planning Permit ?
What we will be analysing over the next few weeks :
1. This Kew Village proposal and its fast tracking is a demonstration of the total rejection of our Australian democratic rights, processes and values.
o We asked our Council, our elected representatives to support us the residents and protect us from this mega development and mega government overreach –to keep us safe and well ( ongoing from April 5th)
2. We did not receive sufficient notice to read / review / understand the details and extent to which this proposal would totally impact us and our quality of life.
o This is such a denial of our natural justice, where clearly the owners / developers of the site / Transport and Planning Team have had months if not years to prepare / plan / submit their applications.
3. Over the building height limits gazetted by the covering Planning Scheme
4. Overshadowing – to our homes, Kew Junction and the Heritage protected War Memorial
5. Overlooking
6. Incomplete review of the waste, noise, emissions generated
7. Visual intrusion – glare and harmful building reflective material
8. Activity Centre definition review – Kew Junction is not a scalable Transport Hub and does not have accessible transport options or a train line.
9. Claim of being an Affordable Housing project
10. Lack of robust Car Parking review - where are all residents and shoppers going to park ? Who is the gatekeeper and responsible for the extra car parking pressure – the Kew Junction area has suddenly not gotten any larger.
11. Lack of robust Traffic Assessment – Permit documents “with a conclusion that Kew Junction will continue to operate under EXCELLENT CONDITIONS”. Who is the gatekeeper for these ‘excellent conditions’ and traffic pressure and traffic safety pressure ? Who is accountable to keep us out of harm’s way?
12. Permit conditions for construction strategy and construction truck traffic generated up the narrow one-way local street, Brougham Street. Who is the gatekeeper ?
13. Share the results of the independent Traffic Engineer’s report commissioned by us the locals.
14. Share legal opinions to the lawfulness of the DFP and of what grounds they issued the Planning Permit.
15. The Local Council’s performance and their duty of care to their residents when we plead for support ( ongoing from April 5th ).
