Dear Mr Government

Dear Mr Government,

You can’t fix this by yourself anymore.

Please admit to the country that something has gone seriously wrong with the system you created.

You handed the delivery of asylum accommodation to private contractors.

And look at where we are now.

Graham Ian King.

Clearsprings.

Serco.

Mears.

These aren’t small organisations operating at the edges of government.

They are major private contractors operating inside a system funded by the British taxpayer.

Graham King - Went from running a government contractor to appearing on the Sunday Times Rich List, with his wealth reported at hundreds of millions of pounds and subsequently reported at more than

£1 billion.

Money is power.

So perhaps the Government needs to stop pretending this is simply an immigration problem.

It is also a contracting, procurement, accountability and public-money problem.

You created the system.

You awarded the contracts.

You allowed private companies to become deeply embedded in the delivery of government policy.

So please — admit that there is a problem.

Don’t fight the British public.

If the system isn’t working, then Government and the British public should be standing on the same side trying to fix it.
