Stop Exploiting Women in Esports
The Issue
David Beckham’s esports company, Guild Esports, backed and promoted by Sky Broadband, has gone into liquidation leaving women including trans women, POC, and disabled women in gaming unpaid for the work and tournaments they were recruited to front.
Days after the final tournament, Guild shut down with only £1,000 left in the bank. Legal documents now show they owe over £2.3 million, including:
- Over £500,000 to HMRC
- Tens of thousands to creators and creditors like us
- Guild hired us knowing they were already in debt and unable to pay.
- They used women as the face of their campaigns especially women of colour, trans women and disabled women, then walked away, leaving us with nothing.
We believed we were breaking barriers for women in gaming. Instead, we were financially exploited.
Please sign and share this petition to hold Guild Esports accountable. Women in gaming deserve better.
