As many of you may already know the proposed rule governing "undue preference" we have been organizing around was recently released. This USDA is currently collecting comments on this proposed rule and we desperately need your help.
Farmers have been fighting for protections for more than 12 years. During that time this is the worst version of these rules yet!
This rule outlines criteria That the Sec. of Ag. will use to determine if undue preference has occurred. Currently, these criteria not only provide justification for matching competitor's prices, terms, and cost-savings measures, it also justifies "reasonable business decision(s) that would be customary in the industry."
We have long argued that practices which are essential to this industry not only provide an undue preference to some farmers over others, they are deceptive, abusive, and predicated on the exploitation of people, land, and animals.
Farmers, like us, can't tell you what is happening in our food system without your help. Please take the time and comment on this rule.
