The Issue

We, the residents of Vadodara, request the concerned authorities to take strict and consistent action against excessive DJ and high-volume loudspeaker noise during festivals and public celebrations.

This petition is not against any religion, festival, community, or tradition. We fully respect everyone’s right to celebrate festivals with happiness, devotion, music and cultural traditions. Our concern is specifically the use of excessively loud DJs and amplified sound for prolonged periods, particularly in residential areas and during late hours. Such noise can seriously disturb students, senior citizens, children, working people, patients, people who need rest, and animals. No individual or community should have to sacrifice their basic peace and well-being simply because a celebration is taking place nearby.

We therefore appeal to the Commissioner of Police, Vadodara City, the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC), and other concerned authorities in Gujarat to ensure effective and equal enforcement of applicable noise regulations during all festivals and public celebrations. We request regular monitoring of sound levels, strict adherence to permitted limits and timings, functioning sound limiters where required, and appropriate action against repeated violations. These measures should apply equally to every festival, religion, community and public celebration.

We are not asking for festivals or celebrations to be stopped. We are asking for celebrations to be conducted responsibly, so that people can enjoy their traditions without unnecessarily disturbing the surrounding community.

If you agree that festivals can be celebrated with joy without excessive noise, please sign this petition and share it with your friends, family, neighbours and fellow Vadodara residents. Your signature will show the authorities that citizens want celebrations that are joyful, inclusive and respectful of everyone’s right to peace, health and a good quality of life.

To the authorities of Vadodara: please hear the voice of your citizens and take meaningful action.
