Stop Excessive Development in Aventura, Florida! (This is aventurainfo.org)

The Issue

WE, the concerned residents of Aventura,  express our deep concerns regarding the proposed changes to the Land Development Regulations (LDR) for the City's Master Plan. These changes will make it far too easy to build new high-rise condominiums in Aventura - especially near the water!

Sign this petition and TELL the city to reconsider — it will be sent to Aventura city officials!

What does this mean for our Community?

The existing regulations have been in place for 25 years and have played a crucial role in protecting our community against unruly development.

The potential changes to the regulations raise several significant concerns that could have a detrimental impact on our city. We urge you to carefully consider the following points:

  1. Increased density from new condominiums: The proposed changes would allow for increased density and more building within our city. While controlled growth is important, it must be balanced with the preservation of our community's character and infrastructure. Excessive development can strain our resources and diminish the appeal of our neighborhoods.
  2. Traffic congestion: More condominiums without proper infrastructure planning will inevitably lead to increased traffic congestion. Our roads are already experiencing strain during peak hours, and additional development without a corresponding plan for transportation improvements would exacerbate the problem. It could result in Life Threatening Situations where traffic could impede response time of Emergency Vehicles. This could significantly impact the daily lives of residents and create additional safety hazards on our streets.
  3. Your unobstructed views may be blocked by a new condominium! Do you have a view of the water or open space? That could change! Changes to the regulations could make it easier to build in areas that were previously unavailable for new development.
  4. Insufficient infrastructure planning: The proposed changes do not adequately address the need for increasing infrastructure such as roads, water supply, and drainage. Neglecting these crucial elements can lead to overwhelmed systems, water shortages, flooding, and other issues that negatively impact our overall quality of life.
  5. Decrease in open spaces: Our city's open spaces, water views, wetlands, and green spaces contribute to the beauty and livability of Aventura. Any reduction in open spaces, such as parks and green areas, would not only diminish our views but also limit recreational opportunities for residents. Preserving open spaces is vital for maintaining a healthy and sustainable environment.

Given the potential implications of these changes, we believe it is imperative that residents get involved and voice their concerns. We encourage fellow residents to join us in taking action against this overbuilding by filing a petition through this change.org page. And please share with your friends and neighbors via this link (sends you to this page): http://aventurainfo.org .

We hope that our City of Aventura representatives will prioritize the long-term interests of Aventura's residents and ensure that any changes made are thoughtful, transparent, and in line with our shared vision for the future.

PLEASE sign this change.org petition. Doing so will give you a voice to state your concerns to our elected officials. Our collective efforts can make a difference in preserving the unique charm and livability of our city. This petition will be sent to Aventura city officials. Updates will be posted on this site.
