Petition to Stop Excessive Traffic Noise on Northern DuSable Lake Shore Drive

We, the undersigned residents of the 48th Ward lakefront corridor, support the installation of automated noise-detection cameras along DuSable Lake Shore Drive to enforce existing city decibel limits. We call on Alderwoman Leni Manaa-Hoppenworth to support and expand Ordinance O2023-0004202 to include our neighborhood.

This not just an annoyance, but an environmental health and public safety issue. Safety and community health are human rights. Continuous high-decibel traffic noise disrupts sleep, impacts cardiovascular health, and reduces quality of life for people of all ages frequenting the adjacent parks and the dense wall of high-rises from Hollywood to Foster.
