Stop East Carteret's Sexist Dress Code

Stop East Carteret's Sexist Dress Code
The Issue
My school's dress code is mainly targeting young women, more than half the dress code is on the restrictions of more feminine clothing and it even goes as far as adding a slogan called "The 4 B's" (no boobs, no back, no belly, no butt) It is extremely outraging that this is acceptable in my community. Terms like provocative and distracting have been said to me by male staff members multiple times. Another male staff member once even went as far to tell me i was showing too much cleavage. I just don't understand why young girls like myself are being sexualized by grown adults. How are we supposed to trust these adults and feel safe in our own community if they are teaching us that our bodies are objects that are a distraction. Male staff should not be thinking of young women in this type of way and if they are then they should not be working with children. This blame the victim mentality teaches girls that their body is not their own instead of teaching boys and men how to respect others bodies. children and adolescents are being taught that distracting from a boy's education is worse than a girl missing out on class altogether. Should we really be punished for expressing ourselves through our clothing just because you have a problem with what i'm wearing doesn't mean i'm the problem. If enough people sign this we can make a change in this big issue and bring it to the school board.
