Stop Drone Massacres on Amhara People in Ethiopia: Urgent Global Action Needed!

The Issue

Petition Summary:
We, the undersigned, urgently call upon global leaders, international organizations, and human rights bodies to take immediate action to halt the ongoing atrocities in Ethiopia’s Amhara region. Systematic drone strikes are targeting innocent civilians, resulting in mass killings, widespread suffering, and egregious violations of international humanitarian law. Schools and healthcare facilities have been destroyed, depriving children of education and cutting off critical medical care for the wounded and sick. These actions constitute grave crimes against humanity and must end now. We demand urgent intervention to protect innocent lives, ensure humanitarian access, and hold those responsible accountable for their actions.

Background:
For over a year, the Ethiopian government has conducted deadly drone strikes targeting civilians in the Amhara region, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of men, women, and children. Entire communities have been obliterated, leaving survivors traumatized and displaced. These attacks are not isolated incidents but part of a systematic, state-sanctioned campaign of terror aimed at silencing the Amhara people.

The use of drone warfare against civilians constitutes a blatant violation of human rights and international humanitarian law. Such actions amount to war crimes and crimes against humanity. The international community must act swiftly to stop these atrocities, hold the Ethiopian government accountable, and ensure justice for the victims. The lives of countless innocent civilians depend on immediate and decisive action.

Why This Is Urgent:
The Ethiopian government’s drone strikes are causing catastrophic loss of life, severe injuries, and lasting psychological trauma to civilians. Without immediate intervention, these atrocities will continue unchecked, leading to further devastation and loss of innocent lives.

Our Demands:
1.   Immediate Ceasefire:
We demand an immediate halt to all drone strikes targeting civilians in the Amhara region of Ethiopia.

2. Independent Investigation and Accountability:
We call for an independent, international investigation into these drone strikes. Those responsible for these crimes must be held accountable under international law.

3. Protection of Civilians:
The international community must take concrete steps to protect Amhara civilians, including urgent humanitarian intervention. We call for an independent, international investigation into these drone strikes, and demand that those responsible for these crimes be held accountable under international law.

4. Global Diplomatic Pressure:
We urge all nations, especially those with political and economic influence over Ethiopia, to exert pressure on the Ethiopian government to cease all violence against civilians and ensure accountability for these atrocities.

5. Stop Drone Supplies to Ethiopia:
We demand an immediate end to all drone supplies and military assistance from the UAE, Turkey, and Iran to Ethiopia. These countries are complicit in enabling the Ethiopian government’s indiscriminate drone strikes against civilians. We call on the UK, European Union, and the US to impose sanctions on these nations and halt all military support to Ethiopia.

Why This Matters:
This is not just a regional conflict—it is a catastrophic human rights crisis that demands immediate global intervention. The deliberate targeting of civilians through drone strikes constitutes war crimes and genocide. As global citizens, we cannot remain silent while an entire population is being massacred.

The international community has a moral and legal obligation to act swiftly and decisively to halt this bloodshed, protect innocent lives, and hold the perpetrators accountable. Together, we can make a difference and save lives.
