Over 2700 of you have signed this petition and many of you have already taken a stand to protect our community by opposing the Moorway Lane development, which is still awaiting its hearing at Planning Committee. That fight is not over. Because it has not yet gone to panel, there is still a real opportunity to place further objections by emailing developmentcontrol@derby.gov.uk. If you need a clear summary of the plans and the reasons we are campaigning against them, you can find everything at: www.greenerlittleover.org.uk/moorwaylane You do not need to live in the area to raise your concerns.
That same determination is urgently needed again. We now have just 10 days to speak up for the Littleover and Sunnyhill Green Wedge before it is weakened in the new Derby City Local Plan. A weakened Green Wedge now will make it far easier for future applications like Moorway Lane to be justified.
The council’s own Green Wedge Review (September 2025) states that this wedge makes a strong contribution to the character, wellbeing, and environmental quality of our area. Yet the emerging plan proposes shrinking it into a narrow Green Gap. You can see this clearly on page 39 of the review:

If you care about stopping the Moorway Lane development, this consultation is one of the most powerful tools you have. Please don’t assume someone else will speak up. It takes just ten minutes to make a difference.
As a minimum, you can email your concerns directly to planningpolicy@derby.gov.uk so your voice is counted formally and with impact.
Full details of the emerging Derby Local Plan are here:
https://www.derby.gov.uk/environment-and-planning/planning/local-plan/emerging/
The plan will shape Derby’s homes, jobs, infrastructure, green spaces, and environment from 2025 to 2042. The consultation runs 12 January to 9 March 2026, and this is the key moment to influence it before it is finalised.
You can take part by:
• Using the Let’s Talk Derby consultation portal to read documents and submit comments online
• Attending drop‑in sessions at the Market Hall, Ordish Room
• Emailing planningpolicy@derby.gov.uk for accessible documents or to join the consultation mailing list
While you can also raise concerns with your local councillors, the most effective route is to send your feedback directly to the Consultation Team, ensuring it is formally recorded.
There will be a second consultation in summer 2026, but changes at that stage are limited. Now is the moment to influence the plan that will shape Derby until 2042 — and to strengthen the protections that help us resist developments like Moorway Lane.
We’ve created a simple summary of the key issues affecting Littleover and Blagreaves at:
