The Issue

Our town is already under incredible strain from extensive development.

The roads are congested beyond capacity, health services are stretched, and our community infrastructure is desperately in need of relief.

Yet, despite these clear challenges Anwyl Homes is seeking to build on the precious green belt in our town! This is the same developer that is due to develop the land on Land East of Maghull but hasn't .... all we see is continuous delay!!!!!!  The land east of Maghull is already allocated and in the local plan, yet this developer isn't building, isn't delivering the essential spine road, isn't concerned about housing delivery there.  They seem concerned about housing delivery in their application to build on our green belt but are incredibly slow to deliver on an existing allocation! So they are delaying delivering infrastructure whilst also seeking to build on our green belt- this is unacceptable! This would not only add to the burden we are already facing but would also erode the green belt land that is crucial for maintaining the natural beauty and environmental health of our area.

Yes ...we need housing, affordable and council homes across the country. However we firmly believe we should encourage brownfield sites and certainly insist that a developer gets on with an already allocated site!

It is important to know that our town already has the largest allocation of development in the whole of the local authority. Continuing to push into the green belt is simply unsustainable. The infrastructure required to support further development just isn't here. Our community resources are overstretched, and it is unjust to expect our residents to bear the brunt.

The green belt serves as more than just a recreational space; it is an essential area that supports local wildlife, provides a place for leisure and recreation, and acts as a vital lung for our environment. Allowing development on this land threatens the ecological balance and risks the wellbeing of the residents who rely on it.

Furthermore, green belts were established to prevent urban sprawl, protect the countryside from loss and degradation, and safeguard the unique character of towns like ours.

Please join us in standing up for our community, protecting our green belt, and saying no to further stress on our infrastructure. By signing this petition, you are helping us send a strong message that enough is enough.
