Dear Supporters,
A new retrospective planning application for huge water tanks and a pond at Tamar Nurseries, Norfolk, threatens our countryside with unchecked industrialisation. This is not a one-off: it’s part of a repeated pattern of unauthorised expansion in a rural landscape.
Please note that a previous application 25/00436/FM for related development on this site is still pending, and this new application was only submitted after sustained public and council pressure for enforcement action. This pattern of repeated, overlapping applications and delayed enforcement further demonstrates an ongoing effort to evade proper scrutiny and delay accountability for unauthorised works
What’s New and Why It Matters - No Valid Planning Permission. There is still no lawful consent for these works. Previous “approvals” were for other addresses (e.g., Link Road) or were secured using misleading details. Very large structures and tanks were installed before or without proper permission.
Critical Flood Risk Remains. The Internal Drainage Board (IDB) confirms future flood risk is unassessed, and there’s still no drainage oversight. Approval would create a precedent for dangerous planning loopholes.
Deliberate Misrepresentation The applicant labels the site a “horticultural nursery.” The reality? An industrial-scale, intensively surfaced site was deliberately misdescribed to avoid scrutiny and tougher planning rules.
Environmental Harm Ignored: No pre-disturbance wildlife survey was done. Biodiversity loss from unauthorised habitat destruction is hidden by using a post-clearance “baseline.” This is the opposite of what the Environment Act 2021 protects.
Why Public Action Is Critical The council needs to hear, loud and clear, that our community will not tolerate planning evasion. The more formal objections received, the greater the chance this application will be refused.
What You Can Do
Submitting an objection takes under 10 minutes:
Search for Application Ref: 25/01304/F – Tamar Nurseries
Use any of these points (or your own words):
There is no valid permission for the actual site or development.
Flood risk is unassessed, with no drainage controls.
The submission misrepresents the site’s real use and scale.
Wildlife and biodiversity protections have been side-stepped.
This is part of a repeated pattern of unauthorised, incremental industrialisation.
Deadline for objections: 15th October 2025
Please share and encourage others—every objection counts!
Thank you for standing up for our countryside and planning integrity.
Upholding environmental law here is not just about this field or this planning process—it’s about protecting nature and the public good for everyone. As set out in our White Paper, the Environment Act 2021 and related policies exist for a reason- to stop exactly this kind of degradation and evasion. If we fail to act—or if the council looks the other way—future protections for wildlife, flooding, and our countryside are put at risk, not just here but everywhere.
Let’s demand our council enforce these laws as they are meant to, and make sure regulations for the environment and public safety are meaningful.
