Stop Developer Application to Change Zoning for Building Project in Whiting, NJ [AMENDED]
Stop Developer Application to Change Zoning for Building Project in Whiting, NJ [AMENDED]
The Issue
U.S. Homes LLC ("Applicant") has submitted an application to Manchester Township for zoning variances regarding Block 109, Lots 14.01, 14.02, and 15.01 located on Lacey Road and Cherry Street, Zones WRB-1, WTO-P and WTRC.
Applicant proposes to subdivide the Property into a total of 5 parcels, as follows: a lot containing approximately 17.391 acres of land ("Proposed Lot 14.03"); a lot containing approximately 17.122 acres of land ("Proposed Lot 15.01"); a lot containing approximately 1.01 acres of land ("Proposed Lot 14.04"); a lot containing approximately 1.033 acres of land ("Proposed Lot 14.05"); and a lot containing approximately 1.033 acres of land ("Proposed Lot 14.06").
If Manchester Township approves the above zoning variances, Applicant proposes building the following:
Proposed Lots 14.03 and 15.01: 4 Multi-Family Residential Apartment Complexes with a total of 96 residential apartment units [55 +];
Proposed Lots 14.04, 14.05, and 14.06: Single Family Residential Homes [55+]
Consequently, the additional population to Whiting NJ will negatively impact us in the following ways: high traffic, addition of and management of utility infrastructure, overloaded hospitals, and an increase in property taxes for all of us.
Manchester Township will hear the Applicant's request for zoning variances and building proposals on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at 6:30 p.m. at 1 Colonial Drive, Manchester Township, NJ 08759; Telephone: 732-657-8121. Please sign this petition and attend the March 23, 2023 meeting to say NO to zoning variances and further development in our town.
[Amended: Manchester Township confirmed the purpose of this eventual development is for 55+; therefore, removed statement re: school tax impacting residents]
We have worked our entire lives, chosen to step out of the rat race by moving to Whiting where it is quiet, calm, and affordable. Let's not allow the rat race to follow us to our small town!!
