What do you do when the city approves something that blatantly violates its own codes and then responds to their mistake by merely posting warning signs, and telling neighboring properties they will need to use extreme caution when backing out of their own driveway, leaving you to deal with the issue daily?

At 3251 W Corinne Drive in South Jordan, that's exactly what has happened. A fence was approved despite the fact that it violates city code, resulting in a dangerous blind corner for drivers and pedestrians. This violation is compounded by the city also allowing the homeowner to build a shed. This shed is clearly visible from the street because it is in the front yard, another code violation. It is also aesthetically not pleasing and violates the city’s mission to have uniform architecture of a planned community. The shed has descreased visibility even more. The city safety commission has since determined the corner is an issue. Their solution is to lower the speed and prohibit parking on the street.

A neighborhood filled with loving and friendly families where children enjoyed outdoor activities with a sense of safety is now a neighborhood of danger. Everyone has to be on high alert daily, whether playing or driving, and it has really impacted our community.

If we don't act now, the city will get away with breaking city code and forcing us to live in danger. The city must be held accountable to follow the rules they have set forth for the safety and consistency of the city and apply them consistently. They have made themselves the exception to the detriment of everyone near this property.

I urge you to visit the property and see firsthand that a shed and fence should not be built in front of this house, as per city codes. They cause visibility issues to anyone coming around the corner and should not have been permitted and need to be moved.
