Stop Cuts to the GRT!

The Issue

The Region of Waterloo's most recent budget proposals include many service reductions to the GRT.

These include:

- The cancellation of Route 35 Greenbrook

- Reduced frequency on Route 9 Lakeshore and Route 30 Ring Road from every 20 minutes to every 30 minutes

- Reduced frequency on Route 55 Grand Ridge from every 30 minutes to every 60 minutes

- Removing 50 per cent of trips on Route 26 Trillium

- Summer service reductions beginning one week earlier

- Removing garbage cans at bus stops

These cuts go against many of the objectives set out in the Region's 2023-2027 Strategic Plan, and are a clear step away from the goals of the new GRT Business Plan.

We urge Regional Council not to go through with these service reductions, which will have a negative impact on the many members of our community who rely on GRT to fulfill their daily needs!
