A sprawling elite society, named Elita Garden Vista, in New Town, Kolkata comprising acres of land, flat prices in upwards of one crore, and well to do residents, proudly strolling around holding lashes to their pricey bred dogs, lacks humane empathy for stray dogs. Although their fear is understandable due to occasional barks and stray incidents of attacks on their pet dogs, the reaction by far from a section of residents has been barbaric to say the least. There was an incident few years back when four new born puppies were found dead after poisoning. Who did it was never found, although few residents expressed their anguish with emojis over social media platforms. What happened after was a continued intimidation to the Dog feeders, many of whom felt tabooed to express their love for stray canines in public places. Social media channels were abundantly used for character assassination of Dog feeders & sympathizers, and socially orchestrate them. Even official complaints and mass petitions were made against them. Thankfully the law of the land were upheld. The matter did not end there. One dog named Redo was fatally attacked by someone in the parking lot. Pictures speak louder than a thousand words.

Fortunately humanity always survived through few handful even in the darkest hours of apathy & cruelty. Few residents rescued the poor Dog, sheltered at their home, got medical treatment for her at their own expense and could put her back on feet. The joy itself of being able to give a life back was gratifying enough for those few.

To what low can human values can stoop to? Well here is the example: Getting enraged perhaps at repeated failures to ex-terminate poor creatures and their patrons, a section of residents now have resorted to mass campaign in support of an FIR lodged for a fake/ staged incident.

Till now over 500 residents out of nearly 4000 have signed this to put an artificial pressure on authorities, and force these Dog lovers out of the society. They need help! The stray Dogs need help!
