The issue

For months, my friends and I have dedicated our free time to building and maintaining bike jumps for fun and exercise. These jumps have not only become a centerpiece of our recreational life but also serve as a magnet for biking enthusiasts in our community. Yet, with a single complaint from one disgruntled individual, the local council has repeatedly dismantled and destroyed our hard work, leaving us with nothing but frustration and disappointment.

These bike jumps provide much more than just a recreational outlet. In an era where video games and digital screens dominate the lives of youths, our jumps offer a physical activity that fosters health, community spirit, and outdoor enjoyment. It is not just adults who appreciate this initiative, but many young people have come to join and increase their physical activity through this exhilarating sport.

Unfortunately, the shortsighted actions of the council, prompted by isolated complaints, continue to undermine the positive impact these jumps have on our lives. Each time our bike jumps are destroyed, the message sent is one of discouragement rather than support for youth engagement and community-building activities.

To find a balanced solution, we propose working together with the council to designate specific areas for safe and monitored bike jumping activities. This collaboration could establish clear guidelines ensuring the well-being of all community members while preserving the environment.

Please sign our petition to urge the local council to stop destroying our bike jumps and work with us towards creating designated spaces for biking enthusiasts to enjoy their sport safely. With your support, we can safeguard our initiative and reinforce the values of community engagement and healthy living for all. It's time to make our voices heard and keep our community vibrant and active.
