Stop Construction of the Proposed Extension of Ranger Road in our Neighborhood
The Issue
Petition to Oppose Proposed Road Through Residential Neighborhood
Our neighborhood, long valued for its safety, tranquility, and strong sense of community, is now facing a serious threat: a proposed road designed to provide access to a new residential development. While growth is inevitable, this particular plan places an unnecessary burden on existing residents, especially families with young children.
This road would cut through quiet residential streets where children regularly play, ride bikes, and walk with their families. Introducing increased traffic into this environment significantly raises the risk of accidents and undermines the sense of safety that defines our community. What is currently a peaceful setting would become a throughway for non-resident drivers.
In addition to safety concerns, the road would bring increased noise, reduced air quality, and a loss of the natural character that makes this neighborhood desirable. These changes are not minor—they directly affect residents’ quality of life and long-term property values.
The proposal also raises serious logistical and safety issues near the Faldo Golf Course at the Marriott Desert Ridge Resort. This road would intersect an area where approximately 36,000 golfers cross annually via golf carts—the only connection between course sections. Mixing regular vehicle traffic with golf cart crossings creates a clear and avoidable hazard.
Ultimately, this project appears to benefit a small number of new homes while imposing widespread negative consequences on an established community. That tradeoff deserves closer scrutiny.
We strongly encourage city planners and decision-makers to reconsider this proposal and explore alternative access solutions that do not compromise residential safety or community integrity. Growth should be managed responsibly, with respect for the people who already live here.
Sign this petition to protect our neighborhood, preserve its character, and prioritize the safety of our children and families.
