The proposal to build data centers in Carroll County jeopardizes the very essence of what makes our home special. These massive structures, along with the intense infrastructure required to support them, can wreak havoc on our local environment. Data centers are notorious for their substantial energy consumption and water usage. They require constant cooling, often resulting in the considerable drawdown of local water resources, which could drastically affect our ecosystems and diminish the quality of life for all who call Carroll County home.

Additionally, the carbon emissions resulting from the immense power needs of these data centers can significantly increase our community’s carbon footprint. As residents of Carroll County, we take pride in maintaining a low-impact lifestyle that respects our natural surroundings. Introducing facilities that operate on such a large and intensive scale contradicts the values and efforts we have collectively upheld for generations.

We understand the need for technological advancement and infrastructure, but it must not come at the cost of our environment and overall health. We propose that alternative locations be considered for these data centers, ideally in areas with already existing infrastructure and where the environmental impact can be minimized.
