Stop Constant UI Changes & AI Push in QuickBooks — Listen to Accountants!

Stop Constant UI Changes & AI Push in QuickBooks — Listen to Accountants!
The Issue
As a dedicated bookkeeper who relies on QuickBooks daily, the recent changes to the platform have been frustrating and in many cases, detrimental to the quality and efficiency of our work.
The new interface, which heavily emphasizes AI integration, is difficult to navigate, slower than its predecessor, and riddled with bugs that interrupt basic workflows. What used to be (generally) a smooth, reliable system now feels like a constant experiment we never signed up for.
QuickBooks has long been a trusted tool for accountants, bookkeepers, and small business owners. But the recent push toward AI-enhanced features favors trend over functionality.
These changes haven’t improved our day-to-day experience. They’ve made it worse.
Here's what real professionals are saying:
- “I log in and everything is different AGAIN. What used to take 20 minutes now takes 45.” – Reddit
- “QBO is the best example of why AI shouldn’t be anywhere near accounting.” – Reddit
- “I wasn’t thrilled with QBO before, but the new AI updates? A hard pass.” – Facebook Group
Why This Matters:
→ The new interface is not intuitive.
Even experienced users are struggling to complete simple tasks, wasting time on re-learning what used to be second nature.
→ The new design is visually difficult to work with.
The updated color scheme and layout are hard on the eyes, especially for those of us working in QBO for hours at a time. Low contrast and excessive white space make it harder to focus, harder to scan, and more visually exhausting. This isn’t just a preference issue, it’s a productivity and accessibility concern.
→ AI integration is cluttered and confusing.
The new AI features have been introduced without sufficient user control or transparency. Instead of supporting our work, they’ve added noise and distraction. Suggested categorizations, unexplained automation, and AI-generated content fields are showing up without request, making it harder to stay focused and in control of our client books.
→ Performance is suffering.
Reports are glitchy, transactions take longer to process, and overall system reliability is down. It’s affecting our ability to serve clients efficiently.
→ This shift adds unnecessary complexity.
What was once simple now requires more clicks and more backtracking.
→ Users want stability.
Across industries, people prefer software that’s efficient, reliable, and user-friendly. These recent changes do not reflect those values.
What We’re Asking For:
→ Stop constant UI changes.
Constant redesigns hurt efficiency.
→ Make AI optional.
Do not apply AI features by default. Give accounting professionals control over their workflows.
→ Fix what’s broken before adding more.
Prioritize performance and bug fixes over new experimental features.
→ Listen to your core users.
Involve us, the people using your product every day, before rolling out major changes.
→ Treat accounting professionals like partners and not users to be overridden.
We’ve built our practices on QuickBooks. But without control over how we work in the system, it’s becoming harder to justify staying.
We’re not anti-AI.
We’re asking for thoughtful, opt-in implementation. We believe AI can support our work but not replace it. The best technology enhances human expertise. It doesn’t try to override it.
We want QuickBooks to succeed. But we also want it to remain a stable, efficient, and trustworthy tool for professionals and small business owners alike.
Please sign this petition to let Intuit know that we want a return to a reliable, intuitive, and user-focused QuickBooks without the unnecessary tech bloat.
