Nov 9, 2023

The Hawa'i' Department of Land and Natural Resources has postponed the November Board meeting until December 8. On this agenda is the permit review for collecting Aquarium Fish in Hawai'i.

We have the opportunity to push this issue by adding signatures and direct letters/ emails or phone calls to the Board.

Submit written testimony via e-mail to blnr.testimony@hawaii.gov or via postal mail to the Board of Land and Natural Resources at P.O. Box 621, Honolulu, Hawai‘i 96809. We request written testimony be submitted no later than 24 hours prior to the scheduled meeting to ensure time for BLNR Member review.

The Board will make its decision next month, Dec. 8 and needs to hear from you! Please submit testimony now urging the Board to approve the petition and direct DAR to begin rulemaking (testimony instructions below – deadline is Weds. Dec. 7 at 9:00 am).

We are hopeful about this petition because recent Board decisions have demonstrated their willingness to carry out a long-standing policy directive to prioritize natural and cultural resources over commercial activities that cause excessive negative impacts to those resources.
