Stop CMS from rewarding deadbeat parents and failing children

The Issue

For the majority of the past 2 years, I have faced the overwhelming challenge of being my daughter's sole provider. Countless hours have been spent on the phone with the Child Maintenance Service (CMS), pleading with them to adhere to their own procedures. Despite these efforts, my daughter received no maintenance support, her welfare seemingly remains invisible to them, and I am unlikely to get back the thousands I am owed. Imagine the frustration of communicating with countless advisors and escalating to several case workers, only to be met with inaction or ridiculous, unjustifiable decisions that only benefit the deadbeat parent. The current payment calculation is £28.60 a month. They know the father lives in a £0.3 million property (upgraded from a £285,000 property, whilst claiming to be on £0 a year), has just got a new car worth nearly £50,000, has often cancelled contact to go on holidays, and has 2 businesses. This is of no interest to CMS and apparently is not evidence of him diverting income.

This is not just a personal struggle; it is a systemic failing that affects countless families. CMS is failing our children and rewarding those who evade their responsibilities. Their inefficacy not only burdens custodial parents but also leaves children without essential financial support. Shockingly, CMS is alleged to cost taxpayers £322 million annually, a staggering figure that raises the question of accountability.

We must hold the CMS accountable for their procedures, their failures, and the impact on child poverty rates. An investigation into how these failures contribute to the alarming child poverty statistics is imperative. Accountability must be demanded not only for families like mine but for all custodial parents who face similar injustices. Moreover, this issue transcends personal grievances—it demands national attention.

Join me in urging a thorough investigation into the CMS's operations, seeking transparency and justice for the sake of our children's futures. Your support can help initiate change and urge the authorities to reform a service meant to protect and support our children.

Following research, I understand that a large number of ‘paying’ parents have had an equally hideous experience of dealing with CMS so I ask that you sign also. Let’s all hold the CMS accountable and push for a fair system that truly upholds the welfare of our children.
