Dear Friends,
We had Unity Rally where large numbers of doctors, nurses, staff members from RMC, Politicians , Social Orgnaisations and the public participated to stop closure of essential medical services. Speakers included Dr Amara Balakrishnan , Dr Raj Gupta , Ani a patient whose life touched by these programs, Ankita wife of Ani , Cindy Chavez (SCC board supervisor , Peter Ortiz (San Jose council man ), Zach Contini Rep from senator Dave Cortese and Tara Sreekrishnan (SCC Borad of Education Trustee)
Various speakers demanded Honorable Attorney General California Rob Banta and Honorable Governor Gavin Newsom to act within 1 week to stop closure of Trauma , Comprehensive Stroke and Code Heart Programs . Speakers highlighted extremely underserved diverse population of East San Jose being subjected to lower medical standards to third world country by HCA to increase their profits . Closure of these program violates antitrust laws and Bill of Rights . Care will become substandard and at times fatal . After 1 week , these programs will be unsalvageable as doctors , nurses , OR techs are leaving the place and would be hard to find replacements. Speakers also highlighted the AG about precedent by North Carolina AG who brought lawsuits against HCA. last December We have 17 times more complaints than North Carolina hospital.
Passionate appeal was also made to Honorable Governor Gavin Newsom to make emergency laws similar to Terri Schiavo case in 2003 by state of Florida and 2005 by Federal Government to save one life. In East San Jose 15 to 20 patients daily would have serious harm or deaths daily if nothing is done from 08/12/24 onwards.
