We, the undersigned residents of Parkland County and surrounding areas, strongly oppose the current plan by Alberta Transportation to close Range Road 20 access at Highway 16A and reroute traffic through a new service road connecting to Range Road 15.

This change would:

• Fail to address existing safety concerns on Highway 16A, where accidents already occur - instead of solving the problem, Alberta Transportation is simply shifting traffic to Range Road 15, creating a larger and more dangerous problem on an alternate intersection.

• Ignore the input from residents who previously identified this option as the least favourable during public consultation.

• Greatly increase traffic volume on Range Road 15, a rural road not designed for the increased traffic flow.

• Create additional safety risks for families and local drivers.

• Increase noise levels and negatively affect property values for residents living along Range Road 15.

Our Request

We call upon Alberta Transportation to reconsider this ill-advised plan and adopt a solution that reflects the community's needs and priorities. Our voices were clear during consultations—this new road plan fosters more problems than it solves. There must be alternative solutions feasibly capable of maintaining functional road accesses while respecting residents' safety and satisfaction.
