Stop Clive Palmer's Divisive 'Trumpet of Patriots' Advertisements
Clive Palmer's latest political advertising campaign, "Trumpet of Patriots," is flooding Australian media with divisive and misleading messages. These ads are built on the same inflammatory rhetoric, fear-mongering, and identity-based division used by Donald Trump, threatening our country's social cohesion and inclusive values.
We are calling on the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA), the Advertising Standards Bureau, and relevant government representatives to take immediate action to investigate and regulate these advertisements. They do not reflect the values of a fair and inclusive Australia and must be held to higher ethical standards.
Why This Matters:
1. Misleading and Manipulative Messaging: The ads exploit patriotism to push a political agenda that does not represent the diversity of Australian society.
2. Overwhelming Media Presence: Clive Palmer has a history of saturating media with political ads, reducing space for diverse perspectives and public interest content.
3. Fueling Hate and Division: The campaign uses nationalist themes to alienate and marginalize communities.
4. Lack of Transparency: There is little clarity on the funding and true intent behind these advertisements.
5. Anti-Indigenous Sentiment: The ads include rhetoric opposing Welcome to Country and Acknowledgement of Country, undermining Indigenous culture and reconciliation efforts.
6. Anti-Immigration and Xenophobic Messaging: The campaign promotes exclusionary rhetoric that fosters hostility towards migrants and refugees, contradicting Australia's multicultural identity.
7. Anti-Trans Rhetoric: The advertisements contain harmful narratives targeting transgender individuals, spreading misinformation and discrimination.
Our Demands:
- ACMA and the Advertising Standards Bureau must investigate whether these ads breach ethical and broadcasting regulations.
- Stronger regulations are needed to prevent excessive and harmful political advertising.
- Media platforms must take responsibility for the messages they amplify and ensure they do not contribute to misinformation or social division.
Australia deserves a media landscape that fosters unity, informed discussion, and responsible communication. Sign this petition to demand accountability and stop Clive Palmer’s "Trumpet of Patriots" campaign from further dividing our nation.
