Stop Clinic Harassment and Return Dignity to Women's Lives
The Issue
Clinic harassment is violence directed toward women. Full Stop. Preventing abortion care restricts our individual freedom. Women deserve access to healthcare without fear of harassment. Yet outside abortion clinics across the Pacific Northwest, patients are increasingly encountering demonstrations, aggressive confrontations, and intimidating behavior as they try to attend medical appointments. These situations affect more than the women seeking care; they impact all patients, clinic staff, volunteers, families, and entire communities. When women feel unsafe accessing healthcare, it raises important questions about how local governments can better protect women’s and patients' access to their legal right to healthcare while respecting individual rights. This is an opportunity for local leaders to demonstrate that patient safety matters, that women’s rights matter. Creating reasonable protections around abortion clinics would help reduce conflict, improve safety, save taxpayer money, and allow people to receive healthcare without unnecessary interference from total strangers. We are calling on the Mayor and City Council to act by establishing buffer zones and adopting policies that prioritize safe, unobstructed access to abortion clinics. Patients should never have to choose between receiving healthcare and risking harassment. Ask yourself, why do we allow this? We can do better. Please join us in calling for safer access to healthcare. Sign this petition to encourage local leaders to protect patients, clinic staff, and our community.
