The EU is pushing a law (“Chat Control”) that would allow the scanning of all private messages, emails, and photos even if you have done nothing wrong. This would put every citizen in Europe under constant digital surveillance.

Already, 15 EU member states have expressed support for this plan. If it passes, no European will be able to communicate privately or securely anymore. Personal conversations, intimate photos, and confidential documents would be continuously checked by algorithms and automated systems.

We say: safety must never come at the expense of fundamental rights such as privacy, freedom of expression, and the secrecy of correspondence. There are better ways to protect children and citizens without treating all Europeans as suspects.
