Stop Catcalling!! Cambria Heights Fails To Protect Women!

The Issue

My name is Tanasia Krystal Daniels. I’m 28 years old and I reside in Cambria Heights.

It was June 11th and I was walking my pet dog, Heidi. I was listening to music while going home until I walked past the gas station when this dark skinned bald man between the ages of 40-60 in his dark burgundy jeep catcalled and harassed me, asking for my number.

In my defense to get him to leave me alone, I spit on him and kept it moving. I was a block away from my house when he followed me, ran up to me and pepper sprayed me in my face. He also had a silver car with him. I called 911 to report it but my phone ended up dying.

I was literally crying and screaming for help by running in the street to stop a car for help. I managed to stop the one car and a woman saw me in a bad state.

She actually took me to flush my eyes with milk and water. She was the ONLY person to actually help me out. Not one person in Cambria Heights stopped to help me. They just kept driving on and walking by as if nothing happened.

Thankfully the ambulance and the police showed up. But for the life of me, I still wish I had full battery to take a picture of his license plate. But I was able to remember the first three letters. The numbers was a blur.

It’s so disappointing when my own town and community literally turns a blind eye when someone gets hurt badly. I’ve been catcalled all my life starting from my preteens. But as an adult, to actually get pepper sprayed by the creep was really low.

What if I was blind? What if I was allergic to pepper spray? Would you guys have that same reaction if that was your mother, daughter, sister, and any woman in your life? I didn’t think so.

I’m taking this very seriously as a woman because it’s not right that little girls and women should walk in fear because men can’t control themselves!!

One more thing, also block @coury39 on IG because he was victim blaming me and calling my assault fake. No one should ever do that to anyone’s trauma.
