Stop Bristol Central library being moved

The Issue

Bristol Central Library opened in 1906 on College Green so that it would be in a central location and would be easily accessible by the community. The university of Bristol is just up the hill and there are local schools within walking distance. it is a Grade 1 listed building who's only function has been to help and serve the city of Bristol.

It has many study areas for students and business people to work in a warm and safe environment. The local history information kept in the building is second to none and helps many people doing their family history. The cafe next to the children's library gives parents a safe space to have a drink while their children are doing one of the many children's activities.

The new business area that was built this year is active and a great community resource. It is a community living room as well as and will be helping a lot of people who will have trouble with bills this year in having a warm and safe environment.

I Studied in Bristol and would not have been able to complete my Nursing degree without the help and support of the library.

The library is very easily accessible at present as it is on many bus routes, right in the heart of the city and if it was moved elsewhere it would also have an impact on the local business who depend on it for customers.

The council would lose nothing by keeping it where it is, and the more people that sign and let the council know on their website how they feel the more likely we are to be able to save such a wonderful community building.
