The Issue

STOP Brighton College's school alcohol bid threatening our community

Sign this petition by Sunday 20th July

We, the undersigned residents and members of the community, formally object to Brighton College’s application for a 'minor' variation to its premises licence, which seeks to include the Music School and the Richard Cairns Building for alcohol sales and entertainment.

Residents will be subjected to increased public nuisance from noise, footfall and traffic, contributing to the cumulative intensification of late-night licensed use in the Kemptown area.

This is NOT a 'minor' variation. It is a substantial expansion of licensable Brighton College activity. If this goes ahead unchallenged it will further erode trust in the council's commitment to community cohesion, developing balanced communities and reducing inequality (Brighton and Hove City Plan 2023-2027)

We urge the Council to REJECT this application. Brighton College must be required to submit a full variation application to ensure proper democratic oversight and protect our community and children.
