Why is this petition up in the first place?

Ok,so here's the reason:JK Rowling(the author of Harry Potter)is a well known transphobe,just not a transphobe who says "i hate trans people",she HATES trans people SO MUCH to the point that she uses her money/wealth from the Harry Potter series to fund anti-trans campaigns to attack the trans community.

What about folks who are LGBTQ+ and trans that like/liked Harry Potter? 

I understand that a lot of people including queer and trans folks feel deeply connected to this franchise seeing a young being abused and bullied for who he was to then get whisked away to a world where he felt he belonged could absolutely relate a lot to LGBTQ+ folks with homophobic,toxic or even abusive parents and make them feel seen and understood,but trans lives are more important than a little wizard boy and it's time to move on.

How is this important to you,Star? 

I,Princess Starlight have 3 trans friends(2 non-binary,1 genderfluid)and these anti-trans laws Rowling's donating to could affect them badly if they lived in the UK.

What are you asking for out of this petition? 

I am asking that ALL bookstores,libraries and shops in Ireland to end their contract with JK Rowling/stopping selling Harry Potter books/merch and instead pick up LGBTQ+ and trans friendly reads(e.g. Percy Jackson,Amari and The Night Brothers) and start selling LGBTQ+ and trans friendly merch(e.g. Heartstopper,Percy Jackson) and hopefully cut off all ties from the Harry Potter franchise and JK Rowling altogether.

How can I help this boycott, petition and trans people? 

Please sign this petition,if you can,donate,share this to your family,friends,anyone who can spread(you can even ask your favourite influencer to speak about this boycott/petition!!)recommend alternatives,call or head down to your local shop to see if they can help raise awareness,stop selling Harry Potter books/merch or pick up alternatives,donate to LGBTQ+ and trans charities,sign other petitions related to the Harry Potter boycott and trans people,make your own petition about this,support queer/trans authors/creators and allies,repost videos about the Harry Potter boycott and recommending alternatives(heck you can even make your own video!!)boycott anything Harry Potter and JK Rowling related,ask your local book club/bookstore/library/school to host a day/week/month to recommend alternatives,call your local cinema and tell to not release any upcoming Harry Potter/JK Rowling projects and see if they can show something else magic-related,make posters about it and share it on social media.
