During the summer months, residents regularly direct their lawnmowers so the clippings are deposited onto the roadways. Grass clippings and/or leaves in the roadway has become a major hazard for motorcycle riders in Sioux County.  Sioux County even made a post about a recent post trying to bring awareness about grass clippings in the roadway and the dangers to motorcycle riders. When tires come in contact with grass clippings or leaves they loose traction and can cause a motorcycle or vehicle to loose control quickly.

I have started this petition and am asking for your help to keep our roadways clean and safe, stop unnecessary injury and death by passing a law that will make blowing grass clippings and leaves into the roadway illegal.

Please sign this petition making it illegal for residents to deposit clippings into Sioux County roadways. This would be a misdemeanors offense, resulting in a ticket and requiring homeowners to clean the roadway.

We have families, jobs, friends and lives that are as important as anyone else’s. The blatant disregard for human life is growing daily on our roads. This can be easily avoided 

 If this neglect and plain laziness continues, more lives will be lost at the expense of a “pretty yard”

Now is the time to address this issue head on! The next injury or death could be your mom or dad, brother, sister or one of your children.
