Micki,

The opposition to Bill C-2 - Canada's new mass surveillance and anti-immigrant bill is growing stronger every day.

Yesterday, we at the Migrant Rights Network joined allies from across the country to launch a joint organizational statement with over 176 organizations on Parliament Hill. At this historic press conference, we collaborated with THREE other coalition statements that have independently emerged, all calling for Bill C-2's complete withdrawal. Our unified message was covered by news outlets from coast to coast.

As our spokesperson Karen Cocq declared: "The government with Bill C-2 has come for all of us, and we are all standing firm. United. Here. Representing hundreds of organizations, representing hundreds of thousands of people to demand the complete withdrawal of Bill C-2 and to say to this government that we will not stop until that happens."

Migrants Take Direct Action
Last Monday, migrant care workers facing abuse and permit expiries took powerful action. They occupied a federal immigration building for over three hours, demanding a meeting with Immigration Minister Lena Diab.

As one participant declared: "We are sending a message to migrants across the country: unite, fight, stand up for your rights. Only you can win status for all."

Instead of responding with dialogue, the Minister sent police who threatened Migrant Workers Alliance for Change members with arrests and trespass tickets. The migrants held firm, ensuring their message reached the Immigration Minister.

The Minister may not have spoken to the migrants, but she heard them. We will not stop. We deserve dignity. We demand justice. Watch and share a video of the action.

Together, we will win.
