Petition updateStop Bill C-2 (The Strong Borders Act)TODAY'S ENCOURAGING UPDATE

Hello everyone!

I just wanted to keep you updated on what is happening with our petition.

As I mentioned in my last update, e-petitions are not accepted in the  House of Commons, unless they go through their own website and several arduous steps to even be considered. Yup. That's the government for you.

So three of us (all strangers, I might add!) are working on this project to ensure the new petition is acceptable.

Once our petition is ready, I will post the link here. We are going to need at least 500 signatures before it will be considered. So, I am hoping that each one of you who took the time to sign this one will sign our new one. Once again, I am sorry about this. This is all new territory for me and I didn't realize it would be so convoluted.

So what's the encouraging news, you may ask? I had signed another petition put forward by the Migrant Rights Network (which I also recommend signing), and sent it to several people in the government including our local NDP MP Gord Johns. I received an email back with a link THIS VIDEO showing Gord speaking out against Bill C-2 in the House of Commons. Right on Gord!

But we can't let up on this fight because this bill is sneaky and dangerous. We must keep the pressure on our leaders because if this bill goes through, you can basically say goodbye to democracy, our privacy, protection for our immigrant neighbours, and hello to Trump-style power-plays, policies and tactics.

Thank you for your patience and support in this, friends. Onward and upward!

Warmly, Micki - Elbows Up Van Isle Organizer
