Stop Australian Labour Hire Companies Outsourcing At Below Minimum Wage

Stop Australian Labour Hire Companies Outsourcing At Below Minimum Wage
The issue
People in the occupations of administration, sales & marketing, real estate administration, bookkeeping, accounting, architecture, and more are being undercut and priced out of the workforce by Australian-based labour hire companies that are supplying Australian businesses with "virtual" overseas workers at a fraction of Australian minimum wage. These labour hire companies are advertising these services for as little as $5 an hour!
They justify these prices by claiming they hire highly trained and skilled workers remotely from places such as the Philipines, where the cost of living is much lower than Australia and wages are lower accordingly. They claim they pay their remote workers a fair wage for the location they are based - eg, Philipines, Vietnam, and various developing nations, which enables them to supply services to Australian businesses at a fraction of the price they would have to pay an Australian-based worker.
This practice is growing rapidly and has the potentional to render thousands, if not millions, of Australians unemployable. Not to mention the damage it could do to the Australian economy by sending money (wages) overseas not to be spent in the Australian economy.
Potentially, ANY job or task that can be done remotely can be outsourced to cheap overseas workers. These labour hire companies are making a quick buck from exploiting cheap overseas workers. THINK: could your job be done remotely via the internet? If so, then you could be made redundant in favour of someone working at wages you can't even begin to compete with!
We are living in a global economy, but the playing field is definitely not level. If legisilation is not enacted to curtail this exploitative industry (remote labour hire) then it has the potential to devastate Australia's already fragile economy by making thousands or even millions of highly-skilled Australian workers redundant and forcing them onto Centrelink payments and into poverty, and sending money out of the Australian economy affecting those businesses that rely on local spending.
