We, the undersigned residents of Flathead County, vehemently oppose the proposed annexation and rezoning of Tronstad Meadows and Whitetail Crossing. We urge the City Council to reject this proposal and preserve the integrity of our community.

The historical farmland located at the proposed Tronstad Meadows and Whitetail Crossing developments are part of the county’s unique and rapidly disappearing farmland, a cherished part of our community.  The proposed annexation and rezoning to R3 not only threaten the existing landscape but also disregard the concerns and interests of the residents surrounding the property and of the community as a whole.

We specifically object to the annexation and future use by the city of the well on the property. This vital natural resource must be protected and utilized responsibly for the benefit of current and future generations. Considering the City’s past and ongoing failure to protect and maintain healthy water sources for the community, as well as their lack of research into the cause of city water contamination, the undersigned have no reason to believe the contamination already present in city water sources will not cross contaminate this well and the aquifer it springs from.  Any attempt to exploit the well for municipal purposes would have detrimental effects on the environment and the local ecosystem.

Furthermore, it is imperative to note that the application for annexation fails to address massive infrastructure issues associated with the proposed development. The increased strain on roads, utilities, and public services would exacerbate existing problems and diminish the quality of life for residents in surrounding areas.

Finally, the proposed plat gives no evidence of the affordable housing the developer is claiming, and there is no evidence that affordable housing will be created or enforced.

Therefore, we respectfully request the following actions be taken by the City Council:

Reject the annexation and rezoning proposal for Tronstad Meadows and Whitetail Crossing.
Protect the well on the property from annexation and any future municipal use.
Address the well known infrastructure deficiencies ignored in the application and ensure that adequate measures are taken to mitigate their impact on the community.
Engage with the community to explore alternative solutions that prioritize the preservation of our community and natural resources.

We believe that preserving Tronstad Meadows and Whitetail Crossing is essential for maintaining the quality of life and sustainability of our county. The proposed annexation and rezoning, coupled with unaddressed infrastructure issues, pose significant threats to our community's well-being and must be opposed.

Thank you for considering our concerns. We urge the City Council to listen to the voice of the community and act in the best interests of its residents.
