HUGE WIN FOR THE COMMUNITY!!!! KALISPELL CITY COUNCIL DENIED THE TRONSTAD MEADOWS DEVELOPMENT PROPOSAL!!!! An ENORMOUS thank you to Mayor Mark Johnson, Councilor Chad Graham, Councilor Ryan Hunter, Councilor Jed Fisher, and Councilor Jessica Dahlman for hearing us and voting NO on the zoning! They absolutely listened to us through hours and hours of public comment. Thank you to all of our community and neighbors for coming together to fight this with such passion, intelligence, and thoughtfulness.

The following is my understanding of what transpired, and anyone more knowledgeable I'd love your input! The council approved the annexation, but then denied zoning. Without zoning, there cannot be a plat, so the application died right there. In fact, Mr. Nygren stated, "If you don't have the zoning the annexation didn't happen," so I think that even the annexation is reversed at this point, and the entire application is denied! My understanding is that when an application is denied, the developers have to wait a year before proposing another iteration. I believe that is true regardless of the annexation vote.

I know how hard it is to feel like one small person up against people with power and money. I am so proud to be part of a community that pushed through that feeling of helplessness, and came together, and won! Thank you to the people that researched meticulously, hired specialists and lawyers, gathered signatures for the super majority vote, showed up to the meetings, spoke at the meetings, put up signs, shared online, signed the petition, provided moral support, contacted council members, sent in public comments, and to the council members that voted with us. I hope you all celebrate in some way, you all made a difference!
