Innocent animals are being tortured, killed, and filmed for online content—often shared on Telegram. Reports reveal a shocking trend: users are posting videos of cats being abused, and some of these videos are being sold for profit.

One investigation uncovered that a Shanghai lawyer allegedly slaughtered over 4,000 cats in graphic videos over eight years, which were sold online. Meanwhile, the BBC reports that Telegram is being used to circulate animal abuse videos, enabling a growing community that glorifies cruelty toward animals.

This is unacceptable. Telegram is providing a platform where horrific acts of violence against animals are accessible, shared, and sometimes monetized. By allowing this content to exist, Telegram is complicit in the abuse.

We demand that Telegram:

•Immediately remove all content depicting animal abuse.
•Strengthen moderation and reporting systems to prevent the sharing of graphic animal cruelty.
•Collaborate with authorities to identify and prosecute abusers.
•Take responsibility for the content on their platform and ensure it does not facilitate or profit from animal cruelty.
