Dear Petition Supporters,

When you don't think that Honey Birdette can stoop any lower, they have been caught exploiting the name and logo of a well-respected cancer charity to flog product. The McGrath Foundation logo was featured on several porn-themed promotional pieces that were displayed in shop windows, on social media and even on Westfield’s own website (see attached picture). It’s a classic case of pinkwashing - using a breast cancer charity for profit and to improve brand image.

In a statement to Collective Shout and the media, the McGrath Foundation said that its donation partner, Honey Birdette had used the McGrath Foundation logo in a way that breached their agreement. The McGrath Foundation has since instructed Honey Birdette to remove the logo from all of its promotional material.

Honey Birdette’s pinkwashing is a blatant reminder of just how unethical and irresponsible they are. It also reminds me that the CEOs of the companies that lease to Honey Birdette have their own history of pinkwashing: they’re all named ‘Male Champions of Change’, heralded for “stepping up beside women” while continuing to harm women by allowing Honey Birdette’s porn-themed ads in their centres - and on their website.

Perhaps the CEOs and the Male Champions of Change organisation will learn from the McGrath Foundation who showed that certain behaviours - like using women as sex objects in porn-themed ads - are not to be tolerated.

Thank you for your support so far, your voice is being heard and pressure is mounting. Please continue to share this petition with your friends and family, and together we'll see the end of porn in our shopping centers.

Warm regards,

Kenneth Thor
