I am one of thousands who rely on supports like Alberta’s Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH) as our only source of income. Our struggles are currently exacerbated by the Government of Alberta's decision to claw back the upcoming Canada Disability Benefit (CDB) from AISH recipients’ benefits, despite pleas from the federal government not to. The Government of Alberta is forcing AISH recipients to apply for the CDB, incurring out of pocket expenses, for a benefit they will essentially never see.

Unfortunately, it seems the government aims to profit from already-impoverished individuals. It's estimated that thousands of low-income disabled individuals are affected by this decision, and we need your voice to bring about change.

We implore the Government of Alberta to repeal this inconsiderate and unjust decision immediately. Empathy should be the guiding principle when developing policies for the disabled, not a cold economic calculation.

Our plea is simple but meaningful. Stop the Alberta government from deducting the Canada Disability Benefit from our AISH payments. Support us in our fight for equality, justice, and respect.
