Stop Alabama’s Attack on Citizenship Rights – Protect All Alabamians Now

Stop Alabama’s Attack on Citizenship Rights – Protect All Alabamians Now
The Issue
We, the undersigned citizens of Alabama, stand united in defense of our Constitution’s promise: Equality for all Americans, whether natural-born or naturalized.
Alabama legislators Senator Donnie Chesteen (R-Geneva) and Rep. Rhett Marques (R-Enterprise) pre-filed a dangerous bill (link) to amend our state constitution, barring Naturalized Citizens — who legally came to America, earned their citizenship, and pledged allegiance — from holding state constitutional offices such as governor, attorney general, and legislator.
This amendment, led by Secretary of State Wes Allen, undermines our core American values and violates the Fourteenth Amendment’s guarantee of equal citizenship.
This is not just a misguided amendment; it is unconstitutional and un-American. It divides our communities, sows distrust, and denies the fundamental rights of fellow Alabamians who have chosen this country, embraced its ideals, and contributed immensely to our state’s growth and prosperity.
Naturalized Citizens serve as doctors, teachers, engineers, business leaders, veterans, and public servants. They enrich Alabama through hard work, sacrifice, and dedication. Penalizing them for their citizenship type stains the principles of freedom, fairness, and equality that Alabama and America stand for.
We believe that every American who has sworn an oath to defend the Constitution deserves the right to serve their community equally. We will not allow partisan politics to strip these rights away. If this amendment proposal passes the legislative committee and the legislature, it will appear on the 2026 ballot. We call on all Alabamians—regardless of background, faith, or political party—to unite and stop this divisive and unconstitutional proposal even before it moves through the committee process.
Join the grassroots movement of “ONE CITIZENSHIP ALABAMA” to defend our Constitution. Sign this petition to demand that Alabama lawmakers uphold the Constitution, honor all citizens equally, and preserve the promise of one nation, under God, with liberty and justice for all. Stop the proposal even before it gets to the legislative committee.
Our Oath is to Defend the Constitution. We Demand No One Be Denied Their Rights.
