The Issue

Stop AI slop from being visible on social media.

Have you ever went on youtube or any social media platform and saw an AI generated video with absolutely NO meaning? Well that’s what I would like to talk about today. In fact evidence has shown that over 20% of content on social media is considered “AI slop” and is affecting today’s generation’s mindsets! But how did AI even start posting on social media? AI itself is not posting on social media, instead people are using tools like LongStories.ai to make videos on youtube with just a single prompt.

Yet somehow, these videos are getting millions of views even though they are 10 - 15 seconds long. The reason why these videos are getting so many views is because of 4 reasons:

Novelty Shock: AI slop uses weird, chaotic and bizarre videos to catch people’s attention. An example of this would be a video of a dog with a baby’s face or a hippo eating a baseball bat. This creates a “novelty shock” in your brain and it pauses for a few seconds just to understand what is happening.
Algorithmic "Hacking": People that use AI videos post hundreds of thousands of videos daily. Even if 1 or 2% of these videos go viral, that’s still millions of views. These types of videos trigger “comment wars” where half of of the viewers say the video is “amazing and creative” and the other half says that the video is “terrible, nonsense and garbage”. This makes a “comment war”. The social media platform sees that the video has many comments, so then the platform would send it to a bigger variety of viewers.
Showing it to vulnerable audiences: These types of videos usually target young kids and toddlers who cannot tell the difference between AI and real life.

So I am please asking you to sign this petition in order to completely wipe out AI slop and save this generation!
