Graduation is a monumental milestone in a student's life. It symbolizes the culmination of years of hard work, dedication, and perseverance. But at Northridge High School, for the graduation of the Class of 2026, our names will be announced by an AI text-to-speech system during our graduation ceremony.

 We've been discouraged from using AI for assignments, which as been a consistent message drilled into us by our educators. It seems insulting for AI to now be used to read off our names. The message this is portraying is, "AI is bad, unless it benefits the people in charge". Having a human read names is not asking a lot, and it would make the event more memorable and heartfelt.

We propose that Northridge High School ensures human announcers for the graduation ceremony. Let a person, possibly an educator or admin read names. This gesture conveys care, respect, and acknowledgment of each student's unique efforts and achievements.
