A few weeks ago, Victorian Greens Party introduced a bill that will ban factory farming. If the bill is approved, battery cages, sow stalls and de-beaking will be banned and there will be a legal definition to free range eggs. Animals in factory farms suffer greatly. Battery hens, confined to a space the size of an A4 piece of paper, unable to move around, for their entire lives. And mother pigs, trapped in crates the size of her body, forced to produce litter after litter of piglets, until she, herself is slaughtered into ‘cheap meat’.
