Please Approve the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Amendment (Domestic Fowl and Pigs) and Food Amendment (Free-range Eggs) Bill 2014 (the Bill) for Victoria

Please Approve the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Amendment (Domestic Fowl and Pigs) and Food Amendment (Free-range Eggs) Bill 2014 (the Bill) for Victoria
The issue
For every moment, there is suffering. Hens, confined to a cage the size of an A4 piece of paper, unable to move around, for their entire lives. Mother pigs, trapped in crates the size of her body, forced to produce litter after litter of piglets, until she, herself is slaughtered into ‘cheap meat’. And tiny chicks, enduring the pain of their beaks, full of nerves, being severed off without anesthesia.
Yet in most of Australia, this cruelty is still legal. These animals can still endure what is illegal to do to cats and dogs. And farmers are still making money out of what is already illegal in the European Union and several US States.
However, for hens, pigs and chicks in Victoria, there is hope. Recently, the Victorian Greens introduced the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Amendment and Food Amendment Bill 2014. This bill will mean that the cruelty of factory farming and de-beaking will be banned, along with the legalisation for a 1500 hens per hectare legal definition for free-range eggs. If approved, innocent animals, unable to move around, will be freed from the cruelty of factory farming.
Please sign this petition to tell Victorian politicians to approve the bill.
