A. State Government Public consultation upon the track design has commenced but for only three weeks. Although consultation that occurs after a contract has been signed and the course decided is sham consultation, we encourage you to participate.

As always, it's important that we get good numbers of submissions, so short and sweet and to the point emails are extremely useful.
Some issues might be:
- the proposed removal of more than 400 trees
- permanent construction and changes to Victoria Park/Pakapakanthi
- impacts on wildlife, biodiversity and tree canopy
- heritage significance of the Park Lands
- public access to Park Lands, fences, sheds, roadworks, concrete, bitumen
- permanent changes for an event held for only a few days each year
- lack of an independent Environmental Impact Assessment
- lack of a published comprehensive Cost Benefit Analysis for a project involving almost $100 million in construction costs alone
- other locations for the MotoGP that should be considered
- whether the consultation process is meaningful
- disruption to traffic, school travel and use of the park lands
- Whether more motorsports events will be added in the future
- impacts on attempts to achieve World Heritage Listing for the Park Lands
- the 12m wide new road surface that goes right through middle of the park

B. City Council Consultation on MotoGP. This consultation has a community focus.
Council wants to understand how the proposal could affect people who live, work, run businesses, visit and use the city and Park Lands, and what you want Council to consider when responding to the State Government. It is at:

Other discussion :
- The latest tree count of 399 trees shatters the number of 45 there premier took to the election, and clearly breaks with the mandate that he claims he has for MotoGP, which was dubious anyway in light of the sketchiness of the proposal, pre-election.
- And with talk of significant trees and others, many of the trees he discounts are olives which go back to to the earliest days of settlement and would be protected under the PDI Act.
- In our opinion this is parasitic development- development that takes advantage of a space's attractiveness but sucks the character and natural attractiveness out of it.
- It's been a pattern with this government. In the case of Festival Plaza the parasitic development has completely overwhelmed the host.
- The premier continues to attack us as NIMBY. We won't engage in public name-calling, but in fact the government's cavalier approach to the grandeur and potential of Victoria Park, and the Park Lands in general, does reek of cowboyism.
Other news:
The John Schumann and the Vagabond Crew Concert at the Gov was a sellout and ended with Rag Tag Extremist Blues! Part proceeds will go to the Park Lands Association for our campaign, and there will be a special concert on Sept 28th where ALL money raised will be for the campaign.
Save Festival Plaza’s fight to prevent the ATO moving into Tower 2 continues, and will continue in the federal parliament where ultimately it needs to be approved.
-We have a dossier of unaddressed issues waiting to see daylight.
-We will encourage you to write to or call your Federal Member in due course, but one thing at a time!
