A deeply historic day- and an opportunity

Please come along and have a say against the destructive and dangerous idea of running a MotoGP event in the Park Lands. The rally should be boisterous and entertaining and details are as above.
And great news, the number of hard copy petitions received was a huge 43,784!
Hi all,
The weather for Sunday is looking good with a 'partly cloudy' prediction.
Speakers include:
John Schumann AM, Retired Labor Minister Hon. Michael O'Brien, Jack Batty MP, Senator Sarah Hanson Young and Janette Milera, Federal Court applicant.
This is a critical point for Adelaide and we must stand up to be counted. What is proposed is frankly ridiculous, and is creating concern about rider safety in the motor bike racing fraternity.
We need to show that opposition is broad-based, not elitist as the premier claims, and that he cannot claim a mandate for something that he has not fully shown to the public, especially something so destructive.
According to the City Council, we faced with losing possibly hundreds more trees. And this is in the face of twin global crises of global warming, and the equally serious species extinction- of which Australia is worst in the world.
And Victoria Park is undergoing a creeping industrialisation, with an increasing accumulation of roads, compounds, sheds, fencing, grandstands and other permanent or semi-permanent infrastructure. A process that will exclude public access for up to 5 months of the year.
This process is totally incompatible with any sense of a park, and displaces many of the walkers, picnic-ers, runners and running groups, kite fliers, cyclists, sunbathers, cricketers and loungers, not just for race days, but for months around them.
This is slow normalisation of infrastructure until the park is no longer functioning as park land.
Here is Michael O'Brien's call to move the race to Tailem Bend. In this context, it is notable that many, some say over half, of attendees at Phillip Island camp there. A race at Tailem Bend is feasible and could be transformative for the area. South Australia does not stop at the Toll Gate.
We got 80 or so signatories on the letter to the Auditor General, and quite a number of individual emails. If you missed out we'd still encourage you to send a simple one line email to the Auditor General expressing your concern at such an extremely questionable process on Walker tower 2, and requesting an urgent audit: audgensa@audit.sa.gov.au
See you on Sunday!
