Whilst we acknowledge the activity on the site, there is at the same time some intense activity in Canberra on our behalf, based on our shocking 8-page compilation of probity and process issues, many of them serious, associated with the project. 

The headline issues, of course, are the $100 for 100-year lease, and the lack of open tender on this $2 billion dollar project, a project of not dissimilar scale to the the New Women's and Children's Hospital. 
By comparison, to have awarded the WCH contract without open tender would have caused public outrage.

This is a project that has been presented from day 1 as a done deal, and that tradition has continued with the premature start to lower level construction, when full approvals still have not been given.

It is designed clearly to make people give up. Please don't be dissuaded from acting, Barbara Pocock is our champion.

She will be in Senate Estimates again, this week, questioning Finance Minister Katy Watt re the ATO.

Please, could you write to the Minister for Finance, Senator Katie Gallagher, we'd like to flood her with letters.

Simply ask why the Australian Tax Office is:

• Wasting huge amounts of taxpayer money, moving into Walker Tower 2? That's a probable total cost of over $73.4m for refurb, and an extra $7.5m per year for rent, which is likely to be about 35% above market rates. 
  Leaving behind vacant CBD office space in the building they are in, which is only 15 years old.
• Apparently ignoring the issues in the 8-page compilation of unaddressed probity and process issues which have mostly been derived from Auditor General, and Ombudsman reports.
• As an anchor tenant, acting as prime enabler of the state government's destructive build on Festival Plaza.
