This is the latest slide at the intersection of Donald Bradman Drive and Marion Road. Radio 891 was at this billboard on Tuesday which drew heated comment from the premier, the initial interview recorded here on the ABC website, and the response from the premier here.
Senator Barbara Pocock devoted much of her address at the Park Lands AGM on Sunday to this issue, as the plaza is on the original Colonel Light park land, and she continues the fight in the National Parliament.
She, like us, does not see this as 'over', or as a 'done deal', as government has almost certainly strategised from the onset.
We have other activities proceeding behind the scenes.
At bottom, this is not a planning matter. It is a matter of governance and integrity: public land misappropriated by government for a purpose that was never promised. It has attracted serious attention from the Auditor General as far back as 2017. It has continued in like vein since, most especially with the Malinauskas decision to raise a perfectly acceptable 3-storey proposal - that had been approved - to an incomprehensible 38 storeys, and the changing of the building code to enable that! This is a serious governance issue that must be addressed.
Thank you again to those who have donated. It's a very strange way to have to communicate with our politicians, expensive but effective, and we intend to keep it going for as long as possible.
Please help out. We aim for one thousand dollars this week.
